April 2007 saw the UK release of a “designer drug” to help pets lose weight. It’s only available on prescription and is suitable to be used in overweight dogs under veterinary supervision in conjunction with a weight loss diet and exercise program. “Yarvitan” works by preventing certain fats from being absorbed into the intestine. Ask your vet if think your pet might benefit.
