Summerhill Vets News - Overweight Pets

The nurses at Summerhill Vets recently organised a very successful ‘Summerhill Slimmers’ month. Many overweight pets were put on a slimming diet and helped to shed the extra pounds gained over xmas. This was done in a controlled manner with no risk to the patients health. People commented that their pets had more energy and some lameness and mobility problems all but disappeared and we get the smug satisfaction of knowing we have reduced the likelihood of certain diseases developing due to obesity - how would you fancy injecting your pet every day for the rest of its (shortened) life because of diabetes?

If you’re worried you pet is overweight (or underweight), feel free to come up during surgery hours and get your pets weight checked and assess if they are overweight or not. It doesn’t cost you anything and you get free advice from the veterinary nurses.
