Summerhill Veterinary Centre now has several veterinary experts visit us on a regular basis. Apart from the regular vets and their special interests, we now have visiting experts in Opthalmology, Cardiology and Dermatology. These vets visit Summerhill on a regular basis and see 2nd opinions and referrals not just from Summerhill, but from all of South Wales. They use our facilities and their expertise to deliver exceptional results for the pets of South Wales.
Hamish Cormie. BVMS, MRCVS, Cert V Opthal.
Not all blindness is permanent, Hamish originally practised in Blackwood and now only does secondary referrals in ophthalmology. Hamish is one of only two people in Wales who are qualified to carry out eye tests for the BVA/KC/ISDS scheme.
Jan Cormie BVMS, MRCVS, Cert V Cardiology.
There is often a lot more can be done for heart cases than people realise. Jan ran a cardiology referral service from her Practise in Blackwood, but now concentrates on heart and respiratory cases exclusively. She is unique in South and West Wales as the only vet on the VCS list of vets approved to do heart testing by ausculatation for various breeds of dog.
Barbera Stevenson BVMS, MRCVS, Cert V Derm.
‘Babs’ worked at Summerhill for quite a number of years and gained her certificate in dermatology while she worked here. She now sees dermatology referrals here from all over South Wales, as well as covering vets holidays in a few other local practices.
