“Chickens” Story

Not long before Christmas 2009, this little girl came in as a stray.

She had a badly infected left knee so sadly had to have her leg amputated. The day after her operation she made herself known by enjoying a whole chicken leg as her Christmas treat! Her nickname was chosen as “Chicken”. She spent her Christmas and the following 2 months in recovery at Sophie her Vet’s house.

The new year of 2010 brought not only a loving new home to “Chicken” but also a new name – “Belle”.

Belle has settled in well with her new owner who reports that despite only having 3 legs, she has no difficulties in climbing the trees in the garden! Her favourite activity is curling up on her owners lap for an evening cuddle.

Thanks to the work of the Skint Strays fund, “Belle” was able to receive treatment that saved her life and gave her a new home.
