FOUND PETS
What to do if you find a stray dog
Firstly, make sure that the dog is a stray – if it has a collar does it have a phone number whereby you could contact its owner?
Telephone the RSPCA to inform them that you have found the dog 08705 555999
Telephone our surgery to find out what to do next 01633 255394
What to do if you find a stray cat
Cats tend to wander and may live locally – if you are unsure whether the cat is a stray try knocking a few doors and asking if anyone knows it. If it is safe to leave the cat where it is then do so – it may find its own way home, keep an eye on it for a while to check it is fine.
If you are certain the cat is a stray then telephone our surgery to find out what to do next 01633 255394.
We must stress that we cannot take in healthy stray cats.
Telephone the RSPCA to inform them that you have found the cat 08705 555999.
If the cat is injured pick it up carefully and place it in a secure carrier. You will need to ask the RSPCA for a log number so that we are authorised to treat the cat. Bring the cat to the surgery and we will check whether it has a microchip so that we can trace the owner.
Please remember you cannot keep a stray pet – it must be returned to its rightful owner if that owner can be traced.
