Sophie Jenkins, Veterinary Surgeon

Sophie qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 2008 and went to Lisbon in July and August 2008 working for a charity neutering clinic before starting work in Summerhill in September 2008.  Australia beckoned for Sophie's work experience whilst at University, including time spent at the Australian wildlife hospital in 2006 looking after koalas, wallabies and other endangered wildlife.

Sophie's passion is reptiles, including bearded dragons, chameleons and geckos.  She is working towards a qualification in exotic care.  Sophie enjoys looking after her menagerie of animals and building up her own reptile collection - she is currently waiting for Yemen Chameleons and Crested Geckos to hatch!

Pets include Ozzie the Lhasa Apso; two ragdoll cats, Pheobe and Logan; two Lionhead rabbits, Shadow and Snowdrop;  Fudge the longhaired hamster; Boz a 14 year old bearded dragon; 8 Chameleons (Venus, Cosmos, Saturn, Closeau, Neptune, Seren, Mr Quad and Mrs Quad); 9 Crested geckos (Sunny, Storm, Dobey, Raindrop, Autumn, Thunder, Lightening, Pebbles and Twilight) and tropical fish - phew!! on top of that Sophie and her family regularly foster cats and kittens.

Sophie also works for the British Red Cross, being a first aider at events such as Horse Racing, Point to Point racing and rally driving. She says that her Red Cross colleagues have to keep reminding her she is there to give first aid to the 2 legged humans not the 4 legged horses!

In the rest of her spare time, Sophie and Ozzie along with some of the other Summerhill Team and their dogs takes part in Dog Agility.
